Hands down the best player at the U18 selection camp, so he came into this with high expectations for me. I had previously noted him as a player who excels despite not having any strong physical tools in his arsenal– no elite skating, shot, strength, hands, or size. He generates a tonne of offense, primarily as a playmaker. He sees the ice incredibly well and makes extraordinary passes in the offensive zone. Anitcipates plays well and positions himself accordingly. Plays a tenacious game and can be difficult to play against for teams in their own zone. Work ethic is very strong. Smartest player I saw in the tournament. Passes are timely and accurate. Overall, was one of Canada’s best players. This season, I’ll be looking to see if he can develop some physical tools to add to his impressive hockeys sense. Without them, it will make his transition to the NHL as a smaller player, difficult.
