Hlinka Gretzky Cup
A consistent, steady defenseman who played in all situations for Canada. Handles the puck very well, makes smart passes, can contribute offensively, and plays at both ends of the rink. Defense ability is good, not great. His vision in the breakout is exceptional– same as on the powerplay. However, his execution is readable and predictable and needs to be improved. Rarely attempts any high danger plays and his dynamic element suffers because of it. Not afraid to chip in physically or maintain a focus on playing sound defense. The type of player who does everything well but nothing elite. Has room to grow physically. Frankly, played a fairly boring game throughout the tournament that questions his potential as a high pick but ensured he will be picked in the middle rounds somewhere– his draft stock depends largely on his developing offensive ability– can he score 50+ points this year in the QMJHL?
