Hlinka Gretzky Cup

All Games

Right Wing

Despite tying for the tournament lead in points, I thought this was an underwhelming tournament. Many of his points were extremely fortunate and are not a testament to his performance. Has a well-rounded offensive skillset, but did not create as much as other top Canadian forwards. Has decent size, skating and puck skills but was not consistently around the puck and generating chances. Could improve his positioning offensively to receive more pucks. In addition, playing to and from the inside of the ice could increase his draft stock– for a player with his skills, there is no reason to be hanging out on the perimeter as much as he did. Most of his playmaking game revolved around short, but quick and accurate passes (much like Shane Wright last year). Noted his defense as a strength on a couple occasions. Was not bad by any means in the tournament, but it’s hard for me to see a top-10 worthy selection in Ritchie.
